Medical management usually involves treatment with non-steroidals (NSAIDS), muscle relaxants or adjuvant medication. In some instances we might recommend opioid therapy.  Opioid therapy is an excellent options for treatment of pain, but some patients undergoing treatment with opioids may develop serious side effects. The use of opioids is heavily regulated by the Drug enforcement Agency (DEA).

In our practice, all patients who are being treated with opioids are required to sign an Opioid Agreement  and periodically undergo urine and blood testing.
